Is a Sulfur Bar Soap Right for You?

Whether you are 16 or 60 years old, we all deal with a blemish here and there. You are never too old or too young for a breakout, and if you are like the 50 – 70% of people with skin sensitivity, sulfur (yes, that smelly stuff!) may be the right option for you. Not only does sulfur work great as an exfoliator, but it also has some antibacterial properties. This means it can prevent future acne, too!

Who should use sulfur in their skincare routine?

Sulfur is an all-natural mineral and the fifth most common element on earth, so why shouldn’t we take advantage of its abundance? The great thing about sulfur is that although many of us will reach for salicylic acid or peroxide to treat breakouts, sulfur is much less harsh on the skin and is also effective.

What product should I try?

According to board-certified dermatologist Jessie Cheung, MD, of Cheung Aesthetics and Wellness, sulfur is the perfect ingredient in a “short-contact cleanser to be used once a day” (Shunaton). Therefore, wash-off bar soap is an excellent carrier of the beneficial mineral.

Try out this bar: with 3% sulfur as the active ingredient,
The Grandpa Soap Company’s Thylox Soap Bar is an ideal product to fight back on mild and severe acne. This bar performs precisely as it is meant to: it exfoliates dead skin cells and dries up excess acne-causing oils. Additionally, The Grandpa Soap Company has found a way to mask the natural sulfur scent with complexion-friendly jasmine oil.
